Ribos

Ribos takes 64 local years to complete an ellpitical orbit meaning that each of the two seasons, Ice and Sun, both last for 32 years. The Icetime can be particulary harsh on the locals whose technology has barely risen to that of Earth during the middle ages. Because of this the Alliance rated the planet as Grade-3, and protects it from alien interference. There are several settlements to the North of Ribos as well as the main city Shurr.

The fourth Doctor and Romana visited Ribos in their search for the first segment of the Key to Time. During their visit they found two con artists (Garron and Unstoffe) trying to sell the planet to the Graff Vynda-K.

Underneath the city of Shurr is a series of catacombs where the Ribans house their dead. Local legend states that the Ice Gods haunt the catacombs, although it is known that the shrivensales use them as their lair. It was down in the catacombs that the Doctor and Garron fought and defeated the Graff Vynda-K.
