STORY:
The TARDIS lands on a mysterious world. The Doctor asks Susan to check for radiation, and the TARDIS gieger
counter shows all is well, until they have left, when the counter reads danger. Outside the TARDIS the
Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara discover a petrified forest.
They also come across a huge city. The Doctor and Susan want to explore, but Ian and Barbara want to leave.
The Doctor appears to agree, but sabotages the TARDIS. A vital component needs mercury, and the city is the
only place likely to have any. Unwittingly they attempt to gain access to the city.
Barbara is captured, and later the Doctor, Ian and Susan are also captured by metallic creatures known as
Daleks. Earlier the Doctor had been given drugs, left by a Thal outside the TARDIS. Susan is the only one
fit enough to return to the TARDIS. The others are suffering from radiation sickness, and Ian was temporarily
paralised by the Daleks.
The Daleks find that the Thal drugs are of no use to them, and that to survive they need radiation. The
Daleks plan to fire another neutron bomb that would also serve to wipe out their enemy - the Thals.
The Doctor allys himself with the Thals, and after a battle the bomb's countdown is halted, and power to
the city, and the Daleks is terminated.
