Tetraps

Tetraps, short for Tetrapyriarbian, are four eyed batlike creatures. When the seventh Doctor encountered them they were being used by the Rani on Lakertya .

The Tetraps contain a nasty venom which they inject into a victims neck using their tongues. The venom incapacitates the victim, leaving them in a tense trance like state.

Although the Rani was using the Tetraps herself they are not an entirely submissive race. When the Rani's plan failed, the Tetraps kidnapped the Rani and her TARDIS so that she could help the other Tetraps on Tetrapyriarbus.

The Tetraps are a reasonably intelligent species and are happy to work technological equipment.
