The Jagaroth were a vicious, callous war-like race. By the time life began on Earth they were practically extinct after they were destroyed in a war. Scaroth was the last of the Jagaroth who crash landed on Earth before there was any life. On take off his spacecraft exploded splintering Scaroth throughout time. The explosion was the cause of the radiation that started life on Earth.
When the fourth Doctor and Romana met Scaroth he was disguised as Count Scarlioni. He was the mastermind behind a cunning crime
to steal the Mona Lisa and sell it to seven different buyers. One of other splinters had already asked Leonardo Da Vinci to paint
six more, where they were stored until the 20th century splinter could retrieve them.
The plan was to raise money to buy parts for a time machine with the aim of returning to the point where the spacecraft exploded and stop himself from starting the engines. This would undoubtably meant the end of humanity.
